Votes cast at advance polls break records

PENTICTON - Attendance numbers from the advance polls earlier this week have broken records for number of ballots cast.

On the first day of advance polls, 746 ballots were cast, and 1,147 ballots were cast on the second day, for a two-day total of 1,893—1,103 more votes cast than in 2011.

The Local Government now allows all citizens to vote during advance polls should they choose. General Election day is next Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 at the Trade and Convention Centre from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mail in ballot voting is available for anyone who qualifies as an elector, who has a physical disability, illness or injury that affects their ability to vote at another voting opportunity, or persons who will be out of the city on election day.

Mail in ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of voting on general election day. Please contact Elections Penticton for particulars on mail ballot voting at 250-490-2400 or www.penticton.ca/elections.
