Just two weeks after being released from jail for sex crimes, a Kelowna man is back behind bars having been charged with committing an indecent act in a public place.

Cyrus David Fines, born 2003, is now back behind bars facing charges for the indecent act and an assault that are alleged to have taken place in Kelowna on July 8.

Details of the assault or indecent act aren't known, but court records show he was arrested shortly after the incident took place and refused bail the following day.

Fines had only been out of prison for 14 days having spent five months in custody awaiting trial on other charges of sexual assault and an indecent act.

In June, he pleaded guilty to the sex crimes which took place in Vernon last September and was given a sentence of time already served in custody.

He was also placed on 12 months probation.

Fines spent time in jail before having been convicted of sexually assaulting several nurses while being held involuntarily as a psychiatric patient in Kamloops in 2022.

He was given a jail sentence of time already served in custody having spent a month and a half locked up.

At the time he was placed on the sex offenders registry and ordered to give a DNA sample.

Fines will remain in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
