A Kelowna man on probation for sex crimes is facing two new charges for sexual assault and public indecency.

Cyrus Fines, 20, was charged for both crimes last month and is now in custody for offences in Vernon.

The circumstances aren't known, other than the alleged sexual assault was on Sept. 17 and public indecency a day earlier. He's now in custody following a Sept. 18 bail hearing, according to court records.

What is known is he was convicted of similar charges in Kamloops less than a year ago.

Fines was found guilty of two counts of assault and two sexual assault on Oct. 20, 2022. He was ordered to spend 30 days in jail as part of a time-served sentence. A 12-month probation order then followed.

On May 17 and 19, he sexually assaulted a nurse in Kamloops while he was being held as an involuntary psychiatric patient.

He was told to stop as he groped her once while she was performing a medical test and once more when he grabbed her from behind, according to Castanet. He later assaulted a patient and a different nurse on June 7 and 26, respectively.

Among his conditions, Fines was ordered to take counselling sessions and to submit his information to the National Sex Offenders Registry.
