Sometimes a photo is taken in just the right place at just the right time.
Shutterbugs in Kamloops and the Okanagan have been sharing gorgeous evening photographs this past week, finding a silver lining in the wildfire smoke that turns the setting sun into pinks, oranges and golds.
Kamloops resident Amanda Iceton was spending time in the grasslands just west of the city on the evening of July 22 when she spotted a buck.
“There were a couple of deer hanging out together and they were not bothered by my presence, it was a peaceful moment just before dusk," she said.
The buck turned to her and the setting sun could be seen perfectly framed between its antlers. Iceton got a bit closer and pulled out her phone to snap a photograph.
“He just watched me, posing, he was a perfect model," she said. "I was thinking, this is insane. I still look at the photo and am surprised, it was a lucky shot."

The photo has gone viral on social media with hundreds of thousands of views, shares and responses.
"People are telling me how awesome it is and some are contacting me wanting copy rights to the photo, I know nothing about that," Iceton said. "I'm just glad to bring attention to our local wildlife and it's nice to see something cool come out of the smoky season."
