June 21, 2012 - 4:56 PM

KELOWNA, B.C. - The man accused in the beating death of an Armstrong, B.C., teen has had his case adjourned until next month.

Matthew Foerster made a brief court appearance by video link in provincial court Thursday in Kelowna, where Crown lawyers said they needed more time to gather information.

The 26-year-old is charged in the first-degree murder of 18-year-old Taylor Van Diest, whose body was found next to railway tracks last Halloween.

Foerster will make his next court appearance on July 5.

He also faces charges of sexual assault and unlawful confinement in Kelowna in 2005 and charges of break and enter and assault causing bodily harm stemming from an incident in Cherryville, B.C., in 2004.

His father, Stephen Foerster, is also charged in the Van Diest case with being an accessory after the fact to murder, and obstructing justice. (CKFR, The Canadian Press)
