PENTICTON - RCMP weren't taking any chances with a suspicious gift wrapped package showed up in Penticton last night.

RCMP say a suspicious package was found on a boulevard in the 400 block of Eckhardt  around 7 p.m., Dec. 20. It was wrapped in Disney Cars gift wrap and was on the ground next to a small snowman.

A package wrapped in Christmas paper exploded in a home at a Penticton trailer court a few weeks ago, so officers proceeded cautiously, according to a RCMP media release.

A police dog was brought in to give the package a sniff and confirmed there were no explosives inside.

"Once opened, the package was found to contain a Minecraft toy, a Captain Underpants book, a marshmallow slingshot and a packaged Fruit Ninja stuffed toy," Corp. Don Wrigglesworth says in the release. "The RCMP has no further information on why or how this wrapped gift was left at the location."

He says they will not be investigating the incident any further.
