PENTICTON - The investigation into a package wrapped in Christmas paper that exploded in a home at a Penticton trailer court last week continues.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl.Don Wrigglesworth says police explosives experts continue to investigate the incendiary device that exploded at the Sun Leisure Mobile Home Park on Nov. 30.
The device was concealed in a cardboard box wrapped in red Christmas paper and was unlabelled when opened by Dorothy Czerniak, 72, a resident of the park.
Wrigglesworth says the woman was not hurt in the incident, but police have since discovered the device had the potential to have caused serious injuries.
The package was found on a resident’s driveway. There was no address on it, and investigators say it had not been delivered specifically to the house where it was found.
RCMP have interviewed residents of the park and continue to examine the device for fingerprints and DNA.
No other devices have been found and no other explosions have been reported, Wrigglesworth says.
Police are asking anyone with any information regarding the incident to call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8487.
