Young man killed while snowboarding at Big White

KELOWNA - Kelowna RCMP say an investigation is continuing into the death of a young man killed yesterday afternoon at Big White ski resort.

Police received a call around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, from B.C. Ambulance Service to assist at the scene where a 21-year-old Kelowna man suffered a fatal head injury, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release.

RCMP say they have notified the family of the young man who is believed to have hit a tree in the area alongside the Black Forest chairlift.

Police say they will not release or confirm the identity of the young man and will continue to support the B.C. Coroners Service in its investigation of the sudden death.
