Why a drone is following skiers around Big White

KELOWNA - Looking the part is half the battle when you're on the ski hill, but now you can tuck away your GoPro camera and awkward pole accessories during your next Big White ski adventure because the mountain resort offers a drone filming service to capture your feats of athleticism.

It's as simple as signing up at the Powder Keg or pre-registering online. You then don a wearable device that allows the drone, which launches by itself, to find your location on the mountain. The drone follows the skier or snowboarder down the mountain filming as it goes and the user can do as many runs as they like. The resulting footage is edited by a professional production company, complete with a soundtrack and a link to the finished video, and is sent to the user within 72 hours, according to a media release from Big White Mountain Resort.

After that just download it and send it out to family and friends, or upload to social media platforms.

This service, provided by Cape Productions Inc. out of Silicon Valley, is only available at Big White until March 22 this year.
