A controversial new service in Kamloops will handle that messy breakup for you, for a fee.

While Sar Ahsher Bank doesn't have any customers yet, she's already getting all kinds of social media feedback.

“Anything from telling me I’m immature to telling me it is a brilliant idea,” she said.

Bank came up with the idea after she, and many of her friends, were “ghosted." That happens when a person ends a romantic relationship but doesn't tell the other person, they simply disappear.

She thinks the service is a great way to fill in the gap for people who are too lazy or too afraid to confront their romantic partners and end things themselves.

“This is a better option than ghosting,” she said. “It's designed to help people avoid a messy or awkward breakup.”

Bank said ghosting is something people in their mid-20s to mid-30s commonly do. She herself is a 30-year-old millennial who is currently in a happy relationship.

“In my experience it’s mostly men who don’t want to commit or just don’t want to do the breakup because they are too lazy,” she said.

Bank charges $25 to end a relationship by email or phone. For those who want a video recording of the breakup it costs $75. It's not going to replace her regular job working on pipelines, but it's a start.

When asked who the video option she offers is catering to, Bank predicts younger couples will use the service.

“For people who find out about a cheating partner the video can come in when they think they won’t be able to follow through with the breakup,” she said. “They'll be able to see the look on their cheating partner’s face. I will have someone with me to record the whole thing.”

Bank is flexible about the way she breaks things off.

“It can be done in an assortment of ways, I can let them down easy or I can completely ruin their day,” she said. “I can customize it for individual needs. I am very good at being straight to the point.”

If the service turns out to be popular, she will take the next steps to opening a breakup business.

“People can leave ghosting in the past while still avoiding the awkwardness of breaking up,” she said. “All I need is a phone call with a few details and people can be single again and a good feeling knowing they got their point across.”

Countless online companies have popped up offering breakup services in the past decade with various costs depending on if a text, email, or written letter is desired.
