Weapons, drugs seized from Kamloops driver 'slumped over' in vehicle

Police impounded a car from downtown Kamloops after an impaired driver was found 'slumped over' in his seat.

Kamloops RCMP was initially called for a wellness check around 12:25 p.m., July 31. The man appeared unresponsive inside the running vehicle, according to a RCMP news release.

Police found the driver was conscious when they arrived but they seized baseball bats, a knife, cash and suspected crystal meth and fentanyl from the car.

Police eventually had his car towed from the 100-block of Lorne Street and impounded for 24 hours after the driver failed a sobriety test.

He was arrested but is not in custody as the investigation is ongoing, according to the RCMP.
