CINCINNATI - An Indonesian choir that missed its performances at the World Choir Games in the U.S. because of travel troubles and ended up stranded has found both generosity and an audience.
The 49-member Gema Chandra Cendrawasih University Choir arrived shortly before closing ceremonies Saturday with little money, nowhere to perform and no way home. The Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper reports that residents volunteered to help as a translator and driver.
Meanwhile, organizers arranged for the singers to perform Sunday at churches and a convention centre lobby. The nearly $3,000 donated will help them cover expenses.
They have a flight home from San Francisco on Friday, but first they must find a way to California.
