KAMLOOPS - Police are looking for a man after he allegedly asked two young boys to go for a ride with him in North Kamloops yesterday.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers were alerted of a suspicious incident yesterday evening, May 14. Two 11-year-old boys were riding their bikes on Parkcrest Avenue when an unknown man on a bike approached them and allegedly asked if they wanted to go for a ride.
Shelkie says the boys quickly rode away and contacted a guardian, who then contacted police. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the man.
The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 30 years old, bald, wearing a brown ball cap, blue T-shirt and tan or brown shorts. He was riding a brown and grey mountain bike.
Shelkie says police can't say at the time if the incident is suspicious or not, but they are asking parents to talk to their children about potential dangerous situations and what they should do.
"In this situation, the boys did exactly what they should have,” Shelkie says. “They recognized that this was suspicious, then rode away from the man and contacted an adult.”
