A Kamloops man was arrested within a day after he was accused of abducting two young girls and taking them to Vancouver Island.

The incident was reported to Kamloops RCMP on Monday, April 22, and officers quickly started working with other detachments across the province, according to an RCMP news release.

Police said he was arrested by Comox Valley RCMP a day later.

Janos K Juckiewicz, 33, is charged with two counts of abducting a person younger than 16. He's in custody awaiting a Friday bail hearing.

Kamloops RCMP provided no further information about the investigation.
