TNRD chief financial officer gone after ten years

The top finance employee at the Thompson Nicola Regional District is no longer with the organization after 10 years on the job.

Doug Rae served as the regional district's chief financial officer for a decade. He's being replaced, in the interim, by deputy financial officer Carla Fox, according to a regional district media release issued today, Sept. 28.

The regional district won't provide any detail about the nature of his departure, citing privacy legislation.

Rae was one of the top earners at the regional district and worked closely with former chief administrative officer Sukh Gill during his tenure.

Gill retired from the regional district in 2020 with a severance agreement, which was followed by a spending scandal and a forensic audit.

"I can say this change in our (chief financial officer) position is not in any way related to the recommendations from the forensic audit that was conducted last year," board chair Ken Gillis told iNFOnews.ca.

He couldn't say whether Rae's departure was a retirement, or whether he left with a severance agreement.

Fox will take over for Rae until the regional district finds a replacement. The search for a new CFO will begin immediately.
