Thompson-Okanagan Tourism Summit heads to Penticton

PENTICTON - The tourism industry is about to get a major boost thanks to a tourism summit expected to draw close to 200 industry leaders comes to town in December.

The two-day Thompson Okanagan Tourism Summit held at the Lakeside Resort will host international and national speakers who will cover best practices for boosting the tourism industry and implementing their 10-year Tourism Strategy, which is designed to improve the region’s standing as a world-class visitor destination.

The theme of this year’s summit is “The Places We Grow” will build on the momentum of the strategy as well as the current growth in the development of destinations, tourism products, key relationships and routes-and-corridors, Glenn Mandziuk, summit president and CEO, says.

“The summit gives us a chance to promote excellence and closer partnerships among all tourism stakeholders in our region as we plan how to develop our tourism destinations and tell people around the world about the exciting and memorable travel experiences they can have here,” he says.

With workshops, presentations and new opportunities to see their communities grow, past summits in the region have attracted close to 200 tourism leaders and communities.
