The North Pole is under attack in Penticton, only lasers can stop the evil elves

Santa needs help defending the North Pole from the evil elves of the South Pole and there's going to be an epic clash in Penticton.

It's being called the Nightmare at the North Pole and it's a Christmas-themed laser tag fundraiser at the Penticton Safety Village.

The graduating class of Penticton Secondary  – who is hosting the event along with the Kiwanis Club as a fundraiser for their Dry Grad – will be playing the role of evil elves.

Humans and elves will resolve the conflict by shooting at each other with laser tag equipment provided by Orbis Sports.

“Participants will be able to have their choice of a couple different type of guns,” said Katie Weitz, who’s organizing the fundraiser on behalf of the Kiwanis Club.

Getting shot will temporarily disable the victim’s equipment.

“There will also be boxes throughout the village for reloading the guns,” she said.

This is the first Nightmare at the North Pole and Weitz came up with the idea to offer families a different kind of Christmas activity. She said it’s suitable for anybody older than 10 including adults.

“Don't worry families with children, it’s not a scary nightmare but rather the nightmare is that Christmas is in jeopardy after the North Pole was taken over by evil elves from the South Pole,” Brent Lyons from Orbis said in a press release.

“The South Pole Elves are fed up with their relatives from the North getting all the attention, so they have captured the North Pole compound and we need your help!”

Tickets are available through this link. The event takes place Dec. 21 to 28 except for Christmas Day. The cost is $25 per person but there are a few ways to save money – purchase online, buy as a team, and support the food bank.

For anyone who wants to help this event in its first year, the Kiwanis Club is accepting donations of Christmas lights and decorations to turn the safety village into a “holiday maze of obstacles,” according to the release. For anybody able to help, Wetiz can be contacted by email.
