Summerland high school teacher charged with voyeurism

A Summerland secondary school teacher has been charged with voyeurism.

Taylor Paul Holubetz was supposed to turn up for his first court appearance Wednesday, May 14 in Penticton.

The circumstances of the charge aren't known, only that Holubetz, born 1988, is alleged to have observed or recorded the victim for a sexual purpose in December 2023.

It's yet to be known whether this is alleged to have happened on school property or not.

School District 67 Okanagan Skaha confirmed Holubetz is not currently working in any school setting and has not been teaching in any of its schools since December 2023.

"As the matter is currently before the courts, we are unable to provide comment on specific details to ensure the integrity of the legal process and... the privacy rights of those involved," School District 67 executive assistant Crystal Ozaraci told iNFOnews.ca in an email.

Stories from local media show Holubetz was a learning support teacher at Summerland Secondary School in September 2023.

Union records appear to show he began working for the school district in September 2021.

Holubetz also taught outside of Saskatoon for the Prairie Spirit School Division from 2016 to 2020. He graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2014.

Court records show Holubetz failed to turn up to court, and a new date was set for June. If he fails to show up again, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
