'Squid Game' top Halloween costume in B.C. and Canada

With less than two weeks until Halloween, Canadians are on the hunt for their costume this year.

Squid Game costumes are turning out to be the most sought after theme in 2021, according to a Google Trends analysis by Fathermag.com.

The authors ranked the top searches in each province, where 'Squid Game' was the top search among five provinces, including B.C., since Sept. 15.

According to Netflix, the TV show is now their most popular TV show of all time, reaching at least 111 million fans.

Among other provinces, the top search in Saskatchewan, for example, was the Disney character Cruella.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Harley Quinn took the top spot.

Commonplace themes like princesses, witches and pirates remain among the top ten searches in Canada this year.
