Spooky Halloween happenings ongoing in the Thompson-Okanagan

There may be less spooky happenings this year due to the pandemic, but organizers who are putting on events are just as enthusiastic as pre-pandemic times.

We've put together a list of just some of the Halloween and fall events happening in the Thompson-Okanagan region.

KELOWNA

Kelowna Corn Maze

This corn maze offers family friendly fun during the day, and gets a little spookier at night. You can grab your gourd while visiting their pumpkin patch. It's open every weekday from 12:30 to 6 p.m. and at night from 6 to 10:30 p.m. More information can be found online here.

McMillan Farms

Check out this farm to get the whole pumpkin-patch experience, and then some, until the end of the month. With hay rides, corn and hay bale mazes, a petting zoo and a slingshot, it is sure to get everyone feeling festive for fall. Tickets can be purchased online here.

Myra Canyon Adventure Park

If you want to get away from the corn mazes, you can find your scares in the treetops. This high-line adventure park transforms to offer scary tours suited specifically to each age group. Starting the weekend of Oct. 22, feel your blood run cold as you walk through the park. Tickets are available to purchase online at $25 per person.

PENTICTON

Penticton Speedway

Don't miss this end-of-season Speedway Spooktacular. Races will feature Street Stocks, Hornets and Hit-2-Pass with a Grande Finale Hit-2-Pass Pumpkin Smash. A vaccine passport is required, Oct. 30, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online here.

Prizes will be given out for the best costume in the following categories: child under 12, ages 12 to 17, best adult, best driver and best car.

Summerland Museum and Archives

Get in the Halloween spirit at the Summerland Museum as it explores strange stories and puzzling trivia from Summerland's history. Is the Ogopogo real? Was Giant's Head Mountain really an ancient volcano? The event takes place Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for children ages nine to 12. For more information visit the museum’s website

VERNON

Historic O’Keefe Ranch

The highly anticipated theme announcement for Field of Screams 2021 has finally arrived. This month, on 17 nights, the dead will walk the earth. In previous years the event has hosted three mazes full of creepy actors and elaborate sets. This year, they have announced that they will be opening up a fourth and even more terrifying maze with no sets, no actors and no lights. Tickets must be pre-purchased online here.

Caetani Ghosts on Spooktacular Tour

Do you believe in Spirits? Ghosts? Phantoms? Find out if the rumours are true when Caetani House opens its doors for special spooky haunted Halloween tours Oct. 30 at 4 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 each, ages 12 and up and available online. Book yours by calling 250-549-7469 or by visiting Ticket Seller.

Walk of Terror at Caravan Farm Theatre

Walk of Terror: System Failure, the farm’s latest theatrical spectacle, will run from Oct. 13 to 30. People will have the opportunity to experience a terrifyingly immersive 40-minute journey, complete with surround sound audio, and live performances by Kelowna’s premiere fire-spinning, stilt-walking performance troupe Kinshira.
