The creator of a production company wants to cheer up the Falkland community with a haunted Halloween, especially considering hard times caused by the pandemic.

A lot of Falkland residents were talking about not doing anything for Halloween last year, so Dean Trumbley and his wife organized a haunted hall which saw more than 400 people walk through the doors, he said.

This year, along with his production company Thunder Boyz Productions Inc., he is spearheading another event in conjunction with the local community association and Falkland Museum, he said.

The Falkland Community Hall will be transformed into a haunted house, featuring eight rooms of spooky actors, and animatronics popping out at different locations. Admission is by donation. The Falkland Museum and Heritage Park is also hosting a child-friendly haunted walkthrough of its grounds with hot chocolate and candy. The event is free and both will run Oct. 28 to 31 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Then from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., a ghost hunting tour will be held at the Falkland museum, church and an old cabin for $30. True North Paranormal and the museum are hosting the event and patrons will be joined by the TV show’s hosts Jon and Karina Kozuska, Trumbley said.

“There’s a lot of opportunities for people to potentially have something happen, but again we’re doing it in the spirit of fundraising,” he said.

Proceeds from the ghost hunt will go towards the museum’s restoration project.

Last year’s event was free as a way to cheer people up and this year organizations said it’s entry by donation but no one will be turned away if they can’t afford it.

Trumbley said he enjoys Halloween, but his wife is a bigger “Halloween nut.”

“The majority of the stuff that is adorning the haunted house is Halloween decorations my wife has collected over the years,” he chuckled.

“Still with COVID and the forest fires, it’s a good time to celebrate some stuff around Halloween,” he said.
