SPRING SWING: Where you can golf in Kamloops, Okanagan already

It’s time to practice your swing as Thompson Okanagan golf courses are opening for the season.

British Columbia’s golf courses in the South Okanagan and Kamloops are typically the first golf courses to open.

There's a wide array to choose from in the Interior for all ages and experience.

Here are some courses that are open or opening soon for the spring:

South Okanagan

Skaha Meadows Golf Course

The golf course on Old Airport Road in Penticton was one of the first to open for the season, Feb. 12, according to Golf in B.C. Skaha Meadows is a well maintained, challenging, nine-hole layout that is 2435 yards, par 35 and well known for its friendly atmosphere.

Penticton Golf and Country Club

Established in 1922, the origins of the Penticton Golf and Country Club go back to a nine-hole course that shared a fairway with a racetrack, located in the area of the Memorial Arena, according to its website.

This course was entirely built by enthusiastic volunteers and maintained by the players. The country club reported its first group of the season March 4.

Osoyoos Golf Club

The Osoyoos Golf Club’s Desert Gold Golf Course opens today, March 18 and The Park/Meadows Golf Course is opening April 1.

Established officially in 1973, Osoyoos Golf Club brings together an ideal desert climate and picturesque golf with two full-length courses boasting the longest season in the Okanagan, according to its website. You can find the courses at 12300 Golf Course Dr. in Osoyoos.

Kamloops

Over in the Kamloops golf region, The Dunes at Kamloops is opening on March 25, according to its Facebook page. Measuring 6973 yards in length, The Dunes caters to all levels of players with your choice of four tees. You can find the course at 652 Dunes Drive.

Kamloops Golf and Country Club

The oldest club in Kamloops is the newest 18 hole Championship course, according to the club’s website. It opens for the season on March 24 at 3125 Tranquille Rd.

Rivershore Golf Links

Rivershore Golf Links, at 330 Rivershore Dr., is celebrating its open day today, March 18 with a tee time starting at 9:30 a.m.

Tobiano Golf Course

The popular Tobiano Golf Course located at 38 Holloway Dr., voted Canada’s Top Golf Course in 2021, will return for the season April 1, according to its website.

Central Okanagan

Kelowna Springs Golf Club

The Kelowna Springs Golf Club, located at 480 Penno Rd, is open for the season. The golf course offers either a nine or 18 hole course.

Michaelbrook Golf Course

Michaelbrook Golf Course opened for the season on March 16 with bookings beginning March 11. With a par 63 course, Michaelbrook Golf Course appeals to all levels of golfers.

Shannon Lake Golf Club

This West Kelowna course on 2649 Shannon Lake Road is set to open March 23. Shannon Lake’s Courses Restaurant is now open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

North Okanagan

Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club

The Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club has returned for the spring season. Located at 9401 BC-97, this club has both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole executive course.

Predator Ridge

Predator Ridge’s two golf courses are expected to open on April 8, according to its website, at 301 Village Centre Pl in Vernon. The award-winning Predator and Ridge courses are both 18 holes.

Hillview Golf Course

This 18-hole course located at 1101 14th Ave in Vernon has yet to open but its driving range is ready to go for the season. The driving range is drop-in and no reservation necessary.

The golf course does not currently have an opening date, but it’s expected soon, according to the course’s website.
