A group of young females are in some trouble after they were found with weapons at a downtown restaurant Kelowna.

Kelowna RCMP received a report about a group of young females with a firearm at a restaurant in the 200-block of Bernard Avenue around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, according to a press release from police.

Officers went to the scene immediately and took six youths into custody. Officers seized a replica handgun, a prohibited weapon, pepper spray and alcohol.

The weapons were never used at the scene, and all six youths were released to their guardians and parents.

“Provided these are all youth females, no identities or further details of the incident will be disclosed,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release.

“That being said, the Kelowna RCMP has made it very clear we have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour amongst our youth population, especially incidents including weapons.

"We will be recommending criminal charges for more than one of these youth females, however most importantly ensuring they and their families are all receiving the necessary support services needed to assist them in making better decisions.”
