A Sicamous mobile home park has been placed on an evacuation alert due to a risk of a landslide in the area.

The alert was issued for properties in the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park this afternoon, July 3, by the District of Sicamous at the Shuswap Emergency Program’s Emergency Operations Centre.

The threat of a landslide near Wiseman Creek is increasing due to predicted thunderstorms in the area, according to the Columbia Shuswap Regional District,

The alert includes all properties from one through 27 along Highway 97A.

Last year's Two Mile Creek wildlife is causing an increased landslide risk in the area after it burned away trees and brush, making slopes more unstable.

The mobile home park has been on and off an evacuation alert since the wildfire.

More information on the alert can be found on the regional district's website.
