Nothing says good old-fashioned fun like a blast to the past dance marathon.
Dust off your dancing shoes, get ready to listen to some of your favourite tunes and move your feet for the upcoming dance marathon in Vernon.
“I just love dancing and I love music,” Frankie Gowing, marathon organizer says. “There's nothing that makes me more joyful than hearing music.”
The dance marathon isn’t just about dancing. It’s also about strengthening community ties, getting participants out of their comfort zone and having fun with others.
She is expecting a four hour afternoon of fun and groovy tunes submitted by participants, smiles, laughter and snacks to keep the energy levels high.
“Taking a step back and watching how others act and perform,… smiles or whatever on their faces,” Gowing says. “It'll be really neat to see that we've come together as a community.”

With six teams competing for the winning title, the marathon is set to be full of excitement, friendly competition and lots of fun and music ranging from 50s style tunes to modern day sensual songs to get things really moving.
The marathon is raising money for the Schubert Centre, so whether participating or observing is your thing, there is something for everyone.
For those interested in attending to watch or participate, the dance marathon will be hosted at the Schubert Centre in Vernon on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested can contact Frankie Gowing at 250-222-0017
