KELOWNA - A prolific offender has been treated for gunshot and dog bite wounds, and has been transferred from a hospital to jail as he waits for court proceedings to get underway.

John Michael Aronson, born in 1988, appeared via video at Kelowna court on March 5 for a brief hearing.

Tiffany Zanatta, Aronson's counsel, confirmed Aronson is currently at the Okanagan Correctional Centre after spending several weeks in hospital recovering from injuries stemming from his arrest in January.

On Jan. 23, Kelowna police cornered Aronson in connection with a road rage incident earlier that day in the parking lot the CIBC branch at Harvey Avenue and Cooper Road. During the arrest, Aronson was bitten by a dog and he was shot. He was taken to a hospital after being apprehended.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating the police-involved shooting.

Aronson is charged with possession of a firearm contrary to order, flight from police, assault with a weapon, possessing weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving while disqualified, theft of motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a conveyance. None of these charges have been proven in court.

Aronson is expected to return to court on March 18.
