A portable at Dr. Knox Middle School was the target of racist graffiti this weekend.

Kelowna RCMP officers were on the scene taking photos on Sunday morning, Oct. 9. The graffiti included swastikas and references to the “N” and “F” words.

“The report said the graffiti included racist words and a teacher’s name,” said spokesperson for the RCMP Const. Mike Della-Paolera. "It has been painted over by a crew from the Central Okanagan School District.”

Della-Paolera said further RCMP investigations will include reviewing surveillance video and doing door-to-door knocking in the neighbourhood to get more information.

He said general duty units are doing an investigation on the case with support of a unit that specializes in hate crimes to find out more about what the racist graffiti was about.
