Instead of returning to play in Kelowna after the World Juniors, Rockets captain Colton Dach was dealt to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

On Dec. 31 he was injured while playing for Team Canada in the World Juniors in Halifax and had to be sidelined for the rest of the tournament.

Yesterday, Jan. 7, Dach was traded for two players and three draft picks, including a first round selection.

Today he shared a farewell letter through the team.

Dach thanked the coaches, the owners, and called the Rockets a first-class organization in the WHL.

The wrote that the support staff doesn’t get enough recognition for their work, and gave them kudos for going above and beyond.

He also showed appreciation for his teammates and billets, and said it was a privilege playing in front of the Rockets fans.

“I will never forget all the support that you have shown our team through the ups and downs with what comes in a hockey season,” the letter reads.

Dach was drafted 62nd overall in the 2021 NHL entry draft.
