Organizers pin hopes on 'spirit map' to replace cancelled Candy Cane Lane event in Penticton

Another Penticton Christmas event has fallen victim to the increasing spread of COVID-19.

Hoodoo Adventures announced the cancellation of the Candy Cane Lane event scheduled for Dec. 13 due to current provincial health orders restricting community events and gatherings, according to a media release, but the company is hoping they can still do a Christmas event in the community this year.

“We are disappointed that we can’t organize Candy Cane Lane, but we are determined to focus on what we can do, not what we can’t,” Hoodoo Adventures co-owner Lyndie Hill said in the release. “We are planning something that is available to everyone, and can’t be cancelled, postponed or restricted. We’ve all had enough of that, and we are confident this new plan won’t spread anything but holiday spirit."

As an alternative, Hoodoo Adventures is offering a holiday spirit map, in a unique idea that has businesses set up festive displays throughout Penticton.

The holiday map will be posted to the Hoodoo Adventures website on Dec. 10, allowing families or individuals the opportunity to walk or drive through the city to take in the festive scenery local businesses are sharing.
