One injured, no arrests in Vernon shooting

A shooting in a residential neighbourhood in Vernon Wednesday left one person with serious injuries.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of 25 Street around 11:40 a.m., April 16, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP said there was a large police response with multiple frontline and BC Highway Patrol officers on the scene.

One person was seriously injured and transported from the scene of the shooting, just blocks away from W.L. Seaton Secondary School.

The investigation is in its early stages but RCMP say it was an isolated incident and there's no risk to the public.

Police have not made any arrests and said no more information will be released to the public at this time.
