One person has died at Vernon Jubilee Hospital following an outbreak of COVID-19.

There are now 13 cases connected to the outbreak that was declared March 31, on the Level 3 Surgical Unit.

According to an Interior Health media release, nine patients and four staff members are currently infected.

Interior Health is reminding the public Vernon Jubilee Hospital remains safe to attend appointments and emergency care. The health authority asks for people to continue with any scheduled procedures and self-isolation or COVID-19 testing is not required after visiting the hospital.

Patients entering the hospital must wear medical masks, which will be provided.

On April 1, Interior Health requested that anyone that was on the Level 3 Surgical Unit at the hospital from March 15 to March 29 should self-isolate for 14 days since they were discharged from the hospital.
