CLAYTON, N.Y. - A boat museum in New York's Thousands Islands region is marking 20 years of vintage racing by hosting its Antique Raceboat Regatta this weekend.
The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, on the St. Lawrence River in Jefferson County, has held the event every other year since 1992.
Organizers tell the Watertown Daily Times (http://bit.ly/RZGD7L ) that they expect about 100 boats from all over the U.S. and Canada to participate in this year's regatta, which starts Friday and runs through Sunday. The race boats include hydroplanes capable of travelling at speeds of more than 150 mph.
Among those attending is Ken Warby, who set the world water speed record in 1978 by travelling at 317 mph in his home country of Australia. The 73-year-old motorboat racer now lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
