VERNON - A man wanted on an outstanding warrant has been arrested, according to Vernon RCMP.

Shane Mark Mulholland, 43, who was wanted for failure to comply with a probation order, was thought to be in the North Okanagan or Kamloops areas.

RCMP had said yesterday, May 1, he was considered violent and warned the public not to attempt to contact him or try to apprehend him.

Vernon RCMP media liaison Const. Kelly Brett says in a release issued today that Mulholland was arrested with the help of the B.C. Sheriffs Service.

Brett says he was arrested without incident and remains behind bars. RCMP do not say when or where he was arrested.

Mulholland was sentenced in Kelowna court in July, 2016 to four years in jail for molesting two young girls. He had pleaded guilty to sexual interference of someone under 14 and sexual assault.

And this isn't the first time he has been wanted for violating his probation. Police put out appeals to the public twice in the recent past, once in September, 2018 and again in October last year.
