Midway RCMP say 'wild & dangerous' predator, not poachers, killed farm animals

Police now say three sheep and a goat killed in a pasture near Rock Creek earlier this week wasn't the work of a poacher, but of a "wild & dangerous predator".

Cpl. James Grandy, spokesperson for Midway RCMP, says a closer look at the animals and some help from the Conservation Officer Service made it clear.

Three sheep and a Nubian goat were killed overnight of Aug. 23 to 24 at a farm near the Kettle Valley Golf Course.

Grandy didn't identify the suspect predator but said in a news release police and conservation officers are working to mitigate the risk to animals and people in the area and "recommending that residents in the area take precautions when allowing children and domestic pets outside."
