Detroit cop faces hearing in sexual assault of woman who called 911

DETROIT - A 39-year-old Detroit police officer faces a hearing in connection with a reported sexual assault of a woman who had called 911 to make a domestic violence complaint against her boyfriend.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Deon Nunlee's preliminary examination is scheduled Friday morning.

Nunlee is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault and misconduct. He is suspended without pay.

Prosecutors have said Nunlee and his partner responded to the Oct. 30 domestic disturbance complaint at a Detroit home.

The 31-year-old woman told investigators she was taken to an upstairs bedroom by one officer while the other remained downstairs with her boyfriend.

Police Chief James Craig has said DNA evidence connected Nunlee to the sexual assault.

Nunlee's attorney was not listed Thursday in online court records.
