One man is in hospital after a stabbing at a Kamloops motel last night.

Officers were called to a motel in the 1800 block of East Trans-Canada Highway in the Valleyview area around 8:20 p.m., Sept. 28, where they found a man in his 30s with serious injuries, according to an RCMP news release.

“Within moments of arriving at the scene, frontline officers had provided emergency first aid to the victim, and quickly located and arrested a suspect,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition. The suspect, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody without issue, to be held for a bail hearing. Both parties were known to each other."

Some officers remain on the scene today as the investigation continues.

Police didn't identify either the victim or his assailant, but court records show the suspect hasn't yet been charged.

Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone with information, dash cam footage or security footage to reach out to the detachment at 250-828-3000.
