Man charged in Salmon Arm hit-and-run

A 31-year-old Salmon Arm man turned himself into police after a photo was circulated by the media of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that left woman with serious injuries.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was struck by a vehicle on 5 Ave SW in Salmon Arm on Dec. 8, 2023.

The driver didn't stop and fled the scene.

The victim was left seriously injured with multiple broken bones.

Police obtained pictures of the vehicle involved in the accident which were released to the media a few days later in an effort to identify the driver.

That same day, the driver turned himself in at the local detachment, according to an RCMP media release issued today, April 16.

Investigators got a search warrant and seized the suspect vehicle from a local home.

Eric Jones, 31, is facing a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He has a date with a judge on April 23.
