Man charged in Kamloops motel stabbing

A man in his 20s has been charged after a stabbing at a Kamloops motel last week.

Keenan James Robertson, born in 1995, is facing one charge for aggravated assault after an arrest in Valleyview.

Police were called to the 1800 block of the East Trans-Canada Highway at around 8:20 p.m., Sept. 28, for a report of a stabbing. Officers found a man in his 30s suffering from serious injuries.

The victim was taken to hospital and police said he was in stable condition at the time.

A suspect in his 20s was taken into custody at the time without issue, RCMP said. The accused and the victim knew each other.

Robertson remains in custody and appeared in court today, Oct. 4.

Along with the new aggravated assault charge, Robertson is facing another charge of assault by choking related to an incident in Quesnel in March. He's scheduled for a pre-trial conference in November on that charge.
