ASHCROFT — Residents are being advised the Ashcroft emergency department will be closed for a 12-hour period starting Sunday night due to limited staffing availability.

Interior Health officials say in a news release issued today, Feb.4, the Ashcroft Hospital and Community Health Care Centre will be closed overnight starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10.

The emergency department's hours will return back to normal at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15. The hospital's emergency department normally operates on weekends only from Fridays at 6 p.m. to Mondays at 8 a.m.

If residents seek emergency medical care during the closure, Interior Health says residents can call 911, visit Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, Lillooet Hospital or Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt.

This is the second time so far this year, Interior Health has had to close the Ashcroft Hospital's emergency department due to limited staffing availability.

If you are unsure of your need to seek emergency care, Interior Health says to call HealthLink B.C.'s 24-hour service at 811.
