In the latest crackdown on drug trafficking in downtown Kelowna police seized weapons, cash and drugs.
Kelowna RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit went after known traffickers and high-risk offenders on May 7, according to a press release from police.
Officers seized a pound of cannabis, 100 grams of psilocybin, 140 grams of drugs like cocaine and fentanyl, weapons and drug trafficking equipment.
The unit conducted similar enforcement blitzes in Rutland on April 23 and downtown on April 25.
“The Crime Reduction Unit will be providing enhanced policing within the downtown core starting this summer,” Sgt. Scott Powrie said in the release.
“This not only is to strengthen current enforcement efforts, but to respond directly to the concerns raised by residents and businesses downtown. We continue to adapt and modernize our strategies to ensure we are delivering the highest level of service to the community.”
RCMP did not say if any arrests were made.
