The B.C. Wildfire Service is responding to the Dick Hart Memorial Park wildfire, located approximately 14.5 kilometres northeast of Kamloops.

In a morning Tweet, the wildfire services said eight personnel are currently responding.

“The fire size is approximately 1.1 hectares and no structures are threatened at this time,” BC Wildfire staff said.

“The BC Wildfire Service would like to remind the public that this is an active incident, for firefighter and public safety, please stay away from the area to avoid interfering with response efforts.”

The wildfire service said heading into the weekend B.C.  is experiencing warmer weather and lower humidity levels throughout the province and warned people to be careful this weekend with activities that could potentially spark a wildfire and to be extremely cautious when burning.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone.
