A Kelowna orchard has been fined $40,000 for failing to have a seat belt on a tractor.
According to a recently published Jan. 26 WorkSafeBC decision, Kelowna orchard G.P. Sandher Holdings failed to have the tractor's roll bar lifted up and it was missing its seatbelt.
WorkSafeBC says it inspected the orchard and saw a worker driving the tractor without the roll bar activated.

"The firm failed to ensure its mobile equipment was used with a rollover protective structure, a high-risk violation," the decision reads. "The firm also failed to ensure its equipment had a two-point lap belt that met applicable standards."
WorkSafeBC issued a $40,555 fine and says the infractions were repeated violations.
