Kelowna is hosting the Canadian Country Music Awards and this weekend is packed with events.

The official award show at Prospera Place is on Saturday, Sept. 13. There are just a few tickets left for the award show, but country music fans shouldn’t panic since there are tons of other performances around town.

There are shows at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, Waterfront Park, Okanagan Golf Club and Kelowna Community Theatre. Even the Kelowna International Airport is decked out with country inspired art and performances.

There are going to be more than 45 artists at 20 free shows across 12 different venues, a few have already happened but there are lots throughout the weekend.

“Kelowna is ready to welcome the nation’s biggest country stars for the Canadian Country Music Association Awards,” Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas said in a press release.

“As a world-class event-hosting city, we are proud to showcase our community on the national stage. After a multi-year process to bring the CCMA Awards here, Kelowna is set to come alive with concerts and celebrations across the city, delivering a welcome boost to our local economy during the shoulder season.”

Waterfront Park is going to be closed except for ticket holders most of this weekend because of all the concerts.

There are lots of country music odds and ends around town like a giant guitar outside of the Delta Hotel.

So, get your boots, hats and boogie on and try to spot some of famous country artists around town.
