KELOWNA – RCMP arrested a man they say robbed a downtown Kelowna bank shortly after noon yesterday.
Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the suspect, later identified through security footage as a 31-year-old Kelowna man, walked into the Bank of Nova Scotia in the 400 block of Bernard Avenue around 12:15 p.m. April 23.
He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, but police were unable to find him until they were called to a seemingly unrelated “disturbance” on Lequime Road last night around 1 a.m.
“Our general duty officers arrived on scene and immediately recognized the subject of that complaint as their robbery suspect,” O’Donaghey says in a media release. “After reviewing the bank's video surveillance footage captured of the robbery, investigators were able to positively identify their suspect as a 31-year-old Kelowna man.”
The suspect's name was not released.
