A catnapping investigation in Kamloops from earlier this month has hit a dead end so RCMP investigators are asking the public for help.

Luna the cat was stolen from her human's backyard in the 800 block of St. Paul Street Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Sep. 19.

Investigators have released images of the suspect and the suspect vehicle in the case in the hope of advancing the investigation.

“Security video confirmed that Luna’s disappearance wasn’t an accident,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“The video revealed that she had been coaxed from her backyard, into the alleyway behind her home, and taken by a woman in a white Dodge van.”

Luna was spotted this past Tuesday across the city on Bossert Street in Brock by a family friend who recognized the feline and called the owner.

The owner’s not sure why the black and white cat was stolen as it’s not a particular breed.

If anyone has information related to the van or suspect, or is the person who took the cat, they’re asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-30399.
