A Kamloops man is facing aggravated assault charges following an altercation early Sunday morning that resulted in one man being taken to hospital and another to jail.
On Dec. 12, just before 7 a.m., Kamloops RCMP officers responded to a motel in the 600 block of Columbia Street West where a man was found inside with stab wounds, according to an RCMP media release.
Police arrested a suspect and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. RCMP said both parties were known to each other.
“A police presence remained on scene while officers obtained and executed a search warrant,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Brandon Alexander Rancier, 28, of Kamloops has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. Rancier was remanded in custody with his next appearance date scheduled for Dec. 16.
