A Kamloops man was arrested and charged after he reportedly had a weapon and broke into a church on the city's North Shore.
Kamloops RCMP were in Brocklehurst after a report of a break and enter in progress on Windbreak Street at 3 a.m. Monday, March 17, according to a press release from police.
Police didn't identify the church, but Kamloops Free Methodist Church is the only church on Windbreak Street.
Officer were back in the area because of a call about someone making threats with a weapon a few hours later in the 800-block of Evergreen Place.
“Just before 9 a.m., the investigation resulted in police arresting a suspect related to both occurrences, at a commercial location on the 1800-block of Tranquille Road,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “He was held in custody for a bail hearing.”
Shane Lee McLeod, 25, is charged with break and enter, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of break-in instruments.
He appeared in court today and was remanded in custody until his next appearance, March 27.
