Kamloops’s Riverside Park will soon be bursting with street performers, food trucks, artisans again after a two year COVID hiatus.

The Kamloops International Buskers Festival stars street performers from Canada and all over the world who work to entertain crowds with their unique acts.

“You’ll be amazed by the outstanding depth of talent,” the event website said. “Kamloops welcomes the world to our beautiful Riverside Park.”

Entertainers include acrobats, magicians, jugglers, hula hoops, artists and musicians, which will be featured in three different types of performances: Main Stage Circle Shows, Busk Stops and Roving Acts.

Main Stage Circle Shows gather and maintain a crowd around the performer for the duration of the act. The act has a distinct beginning, middle and end, and usually includes the use of props and are done in conjunction with street theatre, magic, comedy, acrobatics and juggling.

Busk Stops are designated performance spots located throughout Riverside Park in high pedestrian traffic areas, open to a variety of entertainers with acts that do not have a distinct beginning or end.

Rovers rove around the park doing their acts.

Many local food trucks will be onsite throughout the event.

The family-friendly fun is free but onlookers are encouraged to put tips in buskers’ hats to help them earn their living as they travel the world to perform at street festivals.

The event runs from Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24, until 9 p.m. each day.
