You'll want to break out the sun block and find a cool place to stay tomorrow when multiple temperature records could be set in the Southern Interior.
Lisa Erven, meteorologist with Environment Canada, says Kamloops is forecast for a high of 40 Celsius tomorrow, Aug. 9, which could break a temperature record set back in 1898.
"We could break a 120-year-old record," Erven says.
The current record is 37.8 C, so if the mercury soars to the forecast high of 40 C, it will be the hottest Aug. 9 on record.
More records could be broken in the Okanagan as well, Erven adds, with highs of up to 39 C forecast across the valley.
Vernon's record temperature of 35.4 C was set in 2013, while Kelowna's record of 36 C and Penticton's record of 36.3 C were both set in 1978.
Osoyoos's record of 40.8 C for Aug. 9 was recorded in 1996.
"Osoyoos will come close but the other cities are better candidates," Erven says.
Scorching weather isn't the only weather story for the Southern Interior this week. Smoky skies from wildfires in the province aren't expected to clear until at least Friday.
"There are multiple fires burning in the region and this ridge of high pressure acts as a lid," Erven says.
The ridge traps the smoke closer to the ground and there's virtually nowhere for it to go until the ridge of high pressure moves on.
