Commercial vehicle inspection pullout coming to Highway 5 north of Kamloops
A new commercial vehicle inspection pullout is coming to Highway 5 North this fall.
The Ministry of Transportation is building this new pullout in an effort to improve safety on the highway.
This decision comes after several fatal crashes on this stretch of highway.

The pullout is going to be located 12 kilometres south of Barriere for southbound vehicles, according to a press release from the ministry issued today, March 7.
The $2.2 million contract to build the pullout has gone to Civil North Consulting Ltd.
Along with the new pullout the ministry is installing cameras to collect data on the average travelling speed for vehicles on the highway.

The cameras are going to be there to calculate how long it takes a vehicle to get from one point to another, not for speed enforcement.
The cameras are going to be installed in the spring but the pullout is expected to be complete by the fall.
